AOL to Charge Same for Dial-Up, Broadband – Yahoo! News

NEW YORK – America Online Inc., seeking to encourage its subscribers to sign up for high-speed connections, is raising the price of its main dial-up plan to equal that of its new broadband offerings.

That means most subscribers will pay $25.90 a month for either dial-up or broadband beginning March 9, although AOL is offering discounts to dial-up subscribers who commit to a year. AOL currently charges $23.90 a month for unlimited dial-up access.

A Milestone for iTunes; a Windfall for a Downloader

So at 12:45 a.m., Mr. Ostrovsky’s phone rang. It was an Apple employee, telling him that in addition to the song, Apple was giving him a 20-inch iMac, 10 iPods and a $10,000 gift card for the iTunes store. It is even establishing a scholarship at the Juilliard School in his name.

Analyst sees new Macs, Pro apps, full-length video at special event

“We believe Apple will take the opportunity to round out its Intel Mac portfolio 6 – 9 months ahead of plan with a new widescreen consumer notebook (likely called “MacBook”) and entry-level Mac mini, both of which will include a remote control and Front Row software,” analyst Shaw Wu wrote in a research note released to clients early Wednesday morning.
